'Unused' Commentary on The Fellowship of the Ring - Is peace with the orcs possible?
Topic: Humor 1:35 pm EDT, May 23, 2003

Satirical "commentary" about the Fellowship of the Ring, from a different perspective on Good and Evil.

In this commentary, Frodo is a Mohammed Atta character being sent on a suicide mission, the elves are militaristic genocide-mongers who are promoting an orc apartheid, the Black Riders are "misunderstood", the orcs are fighting a war of self-defense against the invading Fellowship, and Gandalf is a dictator attempting to control the media . . .

] This takes me back to the media's involvement in all
] this, and the way the media is being controlled by
] Gandalf, such as when he covers Saruman's palantir in
] Orthanc. This is the stone that allows one to see, and
] thus communicate with, different cultures.

Question everything. ;)

LOL! Well, I guess it was worth a shot just to get the data. :)

New Careers for the Iraqi (Mis)Information Minister
Topic: Humor 10:46 am EDT, Apr 28, 2003

This is a great collection of spoofed pictures and quotes from "Baghdad Bob." My favorites are the Matrix movie poster, and the picture of Sahaf having been hired by Toronto as their "No SARS" spokesman: "Toronto has no SARS virus, none at all, we did have one or two mild cases of hay fever, but they have been completely overcome..." Heh.

Is Your Son a Computer Hacker?
Topic: Humor 12:41 pm EDT, Apr 21, 2003

] To this end, I have decided to publish the top ten signs
] that your son is a hacker. I advise any parents to read
] this list carefully and if their son matches the profile,
] they should take action. A smart parent will first try to
] reason with their son, before resorting to groundings, or
] even spanking. I pride myself that I have never had to
] spank a child, and I hope this guide will help other
] parents to put a halt to their son's misbehaviour before
] a spanking becomes necessary.

Before reacting to this piece, I advise reading all of it very carefully and thoroughly. And especially check the embedded hyperlinks. My own reaction is that it's very clever satire, since it's far too well-researched to be as ignorant as it sounds (grin). But many of the people who replied to it seem to have very different opinions . . .

Learn English the fast and fun way with Flash.

LOL! I love the "dog" "cat" "lion" "eat" sequence, and then it just gets better from there. ;) Good satire of an English lesson, plus people who watch it may even learn some profanity along the way!

Ripon College Days - TERROR ALERT: Squirrels linked with al-Qaeda
Topic: Humor 5:08 pm EST, Apr  2, 2003

] "We know the squirrels are working with Saddam Hussein to
] acquire weapons of mass destruction," President Bush said
] in yet another address to the nation last night. "We even
] know the squirrels have been trained at al-Qaeda
] terrorist training camps. Think about it, al-Qaeda
] fighters hide in caves and squirrels hide in trees.
] They're obviously using the same strategy."
]
] Meanwhile millions have protested in major cities around
] the world against Bush's anti-squirrel campaign.
]
] "We live in absurd times with an absurd president with
] the absurd idea that squirrels are terrorists," says
] Michael Moore, recent Oscar winner and President of
] People Against War with Squirrels (PAWS).

Gotta love April.... ;)

I think my favorites are the Gulf Wars "Episode II: Clone of the Attack" poster, and the picture of Bush walking by clutching that familiar yellow book...
