] Taczanowski, h. Jastrzebiec. Alfonso-Antoni-Felix (son ] of Maximilian by his wife Francoise Drweska) b. 11th June ] 1815, d. 10th May 1867 obtained the title of Count from ] Kaiser Friedrich Wilhelm IV of Prussia on 6th September ] 1854. Alfonso-Antoni-Felix Taczanowski, uncle to my great-grandmother Lucia Taczanowska. Maximilian Taczanowski and Francoise Drweska are my great-great-great-grandparents. So this is another famous great-great-granduncle in my family tree. He received his title, right around the same that the other one, Joseph (later to be Saint Raphael) Kalinowski, was studying at a Russian university. I have to wonder if they ever crossed paths... ] The Internet's Most Comprehensive Source of U.S. ] Political Biography, ] ] or, ] ] The Web Site That Tells Where the Dead Politicians are ] Buried I was doing genealogical research, and ran across this site. Sure enough, it listed my great-uncle Alfred Niezychowski, who was a (defeated) Democratic candidate from Michigan for the U.S. House of Representatives. 1932, 1st District. I'd heard that he, or possibly my great-grandfather Edward Werner, had pulled strings with (Republican) Senator Homer Ferguson of Michigan, to get some war-orphaned children from Poland, along with their Auschwitz-survivor aunt, into the United States. The family stories which I've heard, say that Senator Ferguson got a rider added to a bill somewhere, to allow for the children to immigrate. I'd very much like to see the text of that bill. Why am I so interested? One of those refugee children was my father. The Political Graveyard |

This is the Polish language page about the sainting of my (thrice)great-uncle Raphael Kalinowski by Pope John Paul II. I am meme-ing it both for the benefit of Polish-speaking friends and family, and also so that I can bookmark the search terms for later research. For example, in English, he's Saint Raphael Kalinowski. In Polish, he's "sw. Rafala Kalinowskiego". With accent marks properly placed, it's pronounced "Rahfahwa Kaleenovskeeyehgo".
