I'm just bewildered by how bookstores aren't carrying the book, but the quantity of "used & new" copies is going up dramatically.

Well, orders through Amazon have definitely delivered, as I have the book in my hands right now. I don't know if the Amazon 'Used & New' type partners can get a bulk discount or if they're just planning to make it up on the shipping charges, though, since they can certainly get Amazon's free shipping deal like I did.

Having said all that, I *don't* know a whole lot about Miers yet, and I'm looking forward to learning more. But from the information I've collected thus far, she's looking like a good choice.

Euh. Some good analysis over on Volokh.com.

The main objection I'm seeing and agreeing with (beyond the obvious 'we know nothing about her') is that she's never argued in front of the Supreme Court or had to really consider questions of Constitutional law. She a litigation attorney, which is really a different area of the law.
