] You may want to think twice before logging into a public ] wireless hotspot. Sure, grabbing a few minutes of ] connectivity is convenient, but identity thieves are ] discovering that, through "evil twin" attacks, hotspots ] are a great way to steal unsuspecting users' private ] information. What is fun about this attack is that to an outsider, the technically difficult parts are the easy ones, and the easy ones are the technically difficult. Access point /jacking/ -- filtering content through -- sounds easier to pull off than access point /spoofing/. But either way, the inability to track the signal means that even if you give the gig up, it can be hard to figure out whodoneit. Does Your Wi-Fi Hotspot Have an Evil Twin? |

] Fallen hippies trading in their Volkswagens for SUVs. To ] most of us it's very emblem of a sellout, but to Canadian ] philosophy professors Joseph Heath and Andrew Potter, ] authors of the provocative Nation of Rebels, it's a ] logical progression. The book charges that by attempting ] to build a counterculture through purchases of ] "alternative" goods (VW bugs then, Range Rovers now), ] political radicals have turned their backs on ] unsexy-but-concrete ways of fighting injustice through ] the legislative process, while strengthening the power of ] consumerism (after all, someone made money off all those ] piles of Adbusters issues and rebel-fashion-accessories ] at the bottom of their closets). 800-CEO-READ Blog: Nation of Rebels Review |

] The WSJ notes that high oil prices is crimping SUV sales. ] The big, inefficient and deadly vehicles (which always ] seem to be in my way) are Detroit's most profitible cash ] cow. Don't think the secular bull market in energy over ] the past few years hasn't contributed to GM's woes. ] ] And yet, Gasoline remains cheap. That's right, it is a ] relatively inexpensive commodity. It takes 100 million ] years to create; Then it needs to be explored and found, ] drilled into and pumped out of the ground, shipped, ] refined in gasoline, then transported to your local gas ] station where some guy pumps it into your car for about ] two and half bucks a gallon -- and thats for high octane ] premium. ] There's no doubt in my mind we're in a bubble right now, ] though during the last one i was far to busy selling ] expensive ads to 20-something CEO's with far more money ] than sense to take much notice of the first from this ] perspective, all i hope from this one, is that we get ] some great innovations out of it.
