The New York Times Business:World Business:War and Abuse Do Little to Harm U.S. Brands
Topic: Society 7:36 pm EDT, May  9, 2004

] For a variety of reasons, American companies that sell
] globally say that they have so far experienced little if
] any disruption from discontent over the war in Iraq. For
] the most part, consumers around the world seem as likely
] to be influenced by economic conditions as by politics.
] And, in a display of the growing sophistication in
] marketing big American brands in global markets, many
] people see products originating from the United States as
] firmly rooted in their own home nations.

It is by this that the rise of the global corporate nation-states will begin. :)

McSweeney's Internet Tendency: Saddam's Interrogation Logs
Topic: Miscellaneous 10:39 am EDT, May  7, 2004

] Woke SH quite early to catch him off-guard and groggy. I
] asked, "What's your first name?" and he said, "Saddam."
] Again I asked, "What's your first name?" and he said,
] "Saddam." I kept asking, "What's your first name?" and he
] kept saying, "Saddam." Once I had a rhythm going, I
] quickly asked, "Where are the WMD?" and he said,
] "Saddam."

] Then Rush Limbaugh put it all in perspective, after a
] caller remarked that the "stack [of] naked men" was "like
] a college fraternity prank."
]
] RUSH: Exactly. Exactly my point! This is no
] different than what happens at the skull and bones
] initiation and we're going to ruin people's lives over it
] and we're going to hamper our military effort, and then
] we are going to really hammer them because they had a

] these people, you ever heard of emotional release? You of

Pittsburgh City Paper - Food
Topic: Local Information 9:39 am EDT, Apr 30, 2004

] Abay will open soon at 130 South Highland Avenue in East
] Liberty. (There’s not a firm date yet, as contractors
] still are doing final work.)

This will be excellent when it opens, but it is now several months from when it was supposed to open. We had feared they had underestimated costs (of course) and folded prelaunch (guess not). Good for them for getting a review in the paper before it even exists.
