"But if the public expects and if the Congress expects there to be prevention of terror activities, there's going to have to be the collection of information, and that collection at times will certainly be problematic to people's concerns." "John Zuccarini, who usually gives an address in Andalusia, Pa., and who is already one of the Internet's most notorious cybersquatters, was ordered to permanently refrain from diverting or obstructing consumers and to give up $1,897,166 in revenue from the advertising affiliate programs that had paid him for the hits generated by his Web-page mousetraps. " Zuccarini has been in the center of such cases as Encyclopaedia Britannica's complaint over the misspelled domains Brtanica.com, Bitannica.com, and EncyclopediaBrittanica.com; actress Nicole Kidman's complaint over NicoleKidmanNude.com and the misspelled NicholeKidman.com; Microsoft Corp.'s complaint over EncartaEncyclopedia.com and Encata.com; and United Feature Syndicate's bid for and Dillbert.com. "People who provide false data when registering a domain name on the Web could be thrown into jail for up to five years, if a recently introduced bill becomes law. " Well, THATS a bad idea... Whois is a relic of the past. Why should you be forced to give up your telephone number to the world simply because you want to register a domain!! The proper way to investigate a host is to look the IP address up in ARIN's database and then contact the ISP it was assigned to. Lawmakers seek to purify Web records - Tech News - CNET.com |

Kazaa said it has sold the network to another firm that the music and film industry has not sued yet. The Web site and the software behind it are now owned by a privately held firm called Sharman Networks, based in Vanuatu, an island in the Pacific.
