] After months of listening to the Republicans base their ] campaign on their singular ability to win the war on ] terror, the president now says we can't win the war on ] terrorism," John Edwards, the Democratic vice ] presidential candidate, said. "This is no time to declare ] defeat - it won't be easy and it won't be quick, but we ] have a comprehensive long-term plan to make America ] safer. And that's a difference." 1. Bush is right. You cannot win the war on terror any better then you can win the war on drugs. 2. People do not understand that and do not want to hear it. 3. Edwards is intentionally taking his statement out of context. Nothing about saying you can't "win" the war on terror admits defeat in the war on terror. Its not binary. 4. People will believe Edwards. Guardian Unlimited | US elections 2004 | President admits war on terror cannot be won |

] GmailFS provides a mountable Linux filesystem which uses ] your Gmail account as its storage medium. GmailFS is a ] Python application and uses the FUSE userland filesystem ] infrastructure to help provide the filesystem, and ] libgmail to communicate with Gmail. This is a fucking brilliant idea! If I was giving out an award for hack of the year this would be in the running. Yes, python is a brain crushingly inefficient way to implement a filesystem, but Gmail is still likely to be the bottleneck. Google probably won't like this because they don't really expect people to use all of the space they have, but they probably can't stop you from doing this either. Got to port this to OSX! Instead of ferrying legal papers ] between lawyers, he uses a homemade, wireless, ] bicycle-mounted dot-matrix printer to spray protest ] messages in the street. More digital graffiti. This is a much more practical implementation then the spray paint robot. Unfortunately, this guy got arrested at the RNC. Wired News: Bike Writer Pedals for Protests |

Imagine gliding along on your bike through the north Georgia countryside, crossing a 500-foot-long trestle over a rushing river below, winding between rock cliffs and weaving among tall stately pines. Imagine doing this without having to worry about cars and trucks. Now imagine doing this for 60 miles on one trail! No, that's not a dream, it's the Silver Comet Trail. The trail is amazing. It is not a difficult ride and it has beautiful scenery. So if you are looking for somewhere to get a workout without having to worry about traffic this is an viable option. The Silver Comet Trail |
