"Colonel David H Hackworth, America's most decorated soldier, does not mince his words. "I would be reluctant to jump into a battle zone with any conventional American unit. I would hate to take them into battle - they ain't ready, they are not 'good to go'."

"Tens of thousands of young people have taken to the streets of Iran in the past week, causing some of the worst violence in the history of the 22-year-old Islamic revolution.

The youths – both boys and girls – used two World Cup football qualifying fixtures as an excuse to reclaim the streets and assert their hunger for Western culture and freedoms."

ACLU Defends California Artist
Topic: Current Events 4:24 am EST, Oct 29, 2001

Does any one have any theories as to why something like this would have been attacked by the city government. I mean if someone made a mural that said "god bless bin lauden" I would expect that they would be screwed with and I would expect the ACLU to have to come to their defense, but I don't get why the LA government doesn't want the mural up??? Any clues, email me...

When stupid people are given authority the results are always bad.

"[...] the Edge community can mount a serious conversation about the catastrophic events of the past week that might do some good. "

Respondents include Kevin Kelly, Esther Dyson, Freeman Dyson, Richard Dawkins, David Farber, Jaron Lanier, Douglas Rushkoff, Bruce Sterling, and many others.

This is a very good collection of different views from across the political spectrum. In general, edge.org is a fairly good source for "what the technocracy thinks."

"Before the tragedy of September 11th the only thing scary about Anthrax was our bad hair in the 80's and the Fistful Of Metal album cover."

Anthrax changes their name. This is fairly funny.
