The Transportation Security Administration is looking to have private companies pay for the screening bins and tables at airports, in exchange for advertisements in the bins, according to an Aviation Daily story. Adam Shostack has been lining up donors who want to sponsor ACLU or EFF ads in the bins.

Thanks Nano! I don't think anyone has nominated us for a Bloggie before. Frankly, if everyone who regularly reads this site nominates us, we stand a reasonable chance to get past the first round. That would certainly be fun. Apparently you can nominate a blog to multiple categories. I think "Best Community Blog" and "Best Kept Secret" are probably the best two for us, but I won't discourage other nominations. :) Just do it quick. Voting closes on January 10th. CNN once again shows how easy it is to confuse a Democratic senator and a terrorist. "Where's Obama?" they asked, over a graphic of Osama bin Laden.
Apparently Fox fired the guy that does their graphics stuff and he got a job at CNN. (One cynically observes that this is exactly how the media kills a candidate it's operators don't like. Yarrr, anyone? I believe they apologized for that too... Posthumously.) CNN: Obama Bin Lauden? |

I love It's a Wonderful Life because it teaches us that family, friendship, and virtue are the true definitions of wealth. In 1947, however, the FBI considered this anti-consummerist message as subsersive Communist propaganda (read original FBI memo).

In a discovery that has stunned even those behind it, scientists at a Toronto hospital say they have proof the body's nervous system helps trigger diabetes, opening the door to a potential near-cure of the disease that affects millions of Canadians.
Heh, not only Canadians. If there is, in fact, hope for a cure for diabetes I imagine it will have a substantial impact on average life expectancies in the western world. Diabetes breakthrough |

As regular readers of my blog know, I lost my voice about 18 months ago. Permanently. It’s something exotic called Spasmodic Dysphonia. Essentially a part of the brain that controls speech just shuts down in some people, usually after you strain your voice during a bout with allergies (in my case) or some other sort of normal laryngitis. It happens to people in my age bracket.
An incredible story from scott adams... -k The Dilbert Blog: Good News Day |
