Coverage of the terrorist attack on New York City and the oil spill in the gulf have diverted national attention away from the flooding in Tennessee, which would otherwise would have been a top story all weekend. I've been absolutely shocked by the pictures and videos of the streets and neighborhoods where I grew up - totally submerged. Several people in my network of friends and acquaintances have lost their homes or worse. Please donate. Where to volunteer, make donations and more | tennessean.com | The Tennessean |

Shahzad was tracked as a suspect since late Sunday night, and was added to a no-fly list as a possible terrorist. Yet, the Times Square bombing suspect managed to board Emirates flight 202 to Dubai on Monday night. Shahzad was arrested by U.S. Customs Border Protection (CBP) officials before it left the gate, but after the plane plane was fully boarded and the door closed.

For the last few days, the biggest entertainment news story on the internet has been the "Muhammad Situation" that unfolded on South Park on Wednesday. The long and short of it is, the show mocked Muhammad (or, rather, had him appear in a giant bear suit), a Muslim fundamentalist site threatened to kill the show's creators, and-- finally-- Comedy Central edited the most recent episode of South Park out of concern for Trey Parker and Matt Stone's safety.
More cartoon wars. The website is down as of this writing. Updated: Fundamentalist Muslims who threatened 'South Park' call Americans 'stupid and pathetic' |

Focusing on the use of cyberattack as an instrument of U.S. national policy, Technology, Policy, Law and Ethics Regarding U.S. Acquisition and Use of Cyberattack Capabilities explores important characteristics of cyberattack. It describes the current international and domestic legal structure as it might apply to cyberattack, and considers analogies to other domains of conflict to develop relevant insights. Of special interest to the military, intelligence, law enforcement, and homeland security communities, this report is also an essential point of departure for nongovernmental researchers interested in this rarely discussed topic.
