I must confess to being a Baxter fan. Their new CD is a little more upbeat and relationship oriented (read girly) then their older one, which is high on my list of top music. However, its basically impossible to get their new CD in the USA anyway. :) :::: BAXTER :::: |

"Almost every night in his New Orleans studio, Reznor leaves his work on the upcoming Nine Inch Nails album (which he cheekily refers to as "More Songs About Oppression and Slavery") for the Nazi shoot-'em-up game Return to Castle Wolfenstein. For the 36-year-old, games and gadgetry aren't just diversions; they're a vital means of artistic exploration. " Reznors relationship with machines... T Spigot has gone without a recommendation for far too long. Friends of mine in Silicon Valley. They make great ambient electronic music AND they just signed a record contract. Very groovy/jazzy stuff, good to code to. Must listen. MP3s on site... t spigot |

"In 1978, record sales began to fall, and the major labels blamed a larcenous new technology: cassette tapes... In 1980, however, the crisis was almost over. It turned out that home taping had not killed music. Instead, the central problem was the collapsing popularity of dance-poplively, sexy, but personality-free music whose appeal was broad but thin. They called it disco... " A ray of light stands out today against the ignorance flowing out of the PFF conference. Its nice to see this in a conservative publication like Slate.
