] RadioParadise -- Eclectic Intelligent Rock

First Poe, then Led Zep. Ambient Techno to Alternative Country. Combinations here are strange but good. I like it.

Found "Analog Voyager" on iTunes this evening under Ambient. This is a good station if you find SomaFM getting repetitive...

Beck Unplugged
Topic: Music 2:17 am EST, Jan 26, 2003

This is a 30 minute program with some unplugged Beck. Its a little country. I hate country. But it has a lot of heart. It doesn't suck.

:::: BAXTER ::::
Topic: Music 1:28 am EST, Jan  8, 2003

I must confess to being a Baxter fan. Their new CD is a little more upbeat and relationship oriented (read girly) then their older one, which is high on my list of top music. However, its basically impossible to get their new CD in the USA anyway. :)

Hey Dad, I'm selling out - Jimi Hendrix

Fuck Hip Hop

] I know you’ve been thinking it. And if you haven’t, you probably
] haven’t been paying attention. The art we once called hip hop has
] been dead for some time now. But because its rotting carcass has
] been draped in platinum and propped against a Gucci print car, many
] of us have missed its demise.

MTV.com - News - Friends Remember Jam Master Jay

"He's a guy that goes around the world 80 million times, comes back and still works at the studio right there in Queens. That says it all right there."

Salon.com Technology | Trent Reznor's pretty hate machines
Topic: Music 6:53 pm EDT, Sep 17, 2002

"Almost every night in his New Orleans studio, Reznor leaves his work on the upcoming Nine Inch Nails album (which he cheekily refers to as "More Songs About Oppression and Slavery") for the Nazi shoot-'em-up game Return to Castle Wolfenstein. For the 36-year-old, games and gadgetry aren't just diversions; they're a vital means of artistic exploration. "

T Spigot has gone without a recommendation for far too long. Friends of mine in Silicon Valley. They make great ambient electronic music AND they just signed a record contract. Very groovy/jazzy stuff, good to code to. Must listen. MP3s on site...

Hit Charade - The music industry's self-inflicted wounds. By Mark Jenkins
Topic: Music 10:15 pm EDT, Aug 21, 2002

"In 1978, record sales began to fall, and the major labels blamed a larcenous new technology: cassette tapes... The idea was that music fans, ingrates that they are, would rather pirate songs than pay for them, and that sharing favorite songs was a crime against hard-working musicians (rather than great word-of-mouth advertising)...

In 1980, however, the crisis was almost over. It turned out that home taping had not killed music. Instead, the central problem was the collapsing popularity of dance-pop—lively, sexy, but personality-free music whose appeal was broad but thin. They called it disco... "

A ray of light stands out today against the ignorance flowing out of the PFF conference. Its nice to see this in a conservative publication like Slate.
