No 'Men Working' In Atlanta - News Story - WSB Atlanta
Topic: Politics and Law 3:39 pm EDT, Jul 10, 2008

After complaints from women Atlanta is replacing about 50 "Men Working" signs with "Workers Ahead" signs. Officials said it makes sense since women also work on the road repair crews.

Are we really that petty girls? or should I say women? Geesh, next it'll be "Manhole covers". Let's just be real. We all know that Atlanta drivers ignore those signs anyway, why waste the taxpayer's dollar?

But there’s a reason why this Congress is such a failure–it’s because they don’t care, are obsessed with irrelevant petty squabbling, and apparently have contempt for the American people. If they didn’t, out of simple respect for the people, all Democrat and Republican leadership in the House and the Senate would apologize and resign en masse.

A look at issues ranging from the doubling of gas prices since the Democrats took control, to the fact that Congress seems perfectly willing to sacrifice the health and safety of the American people to trade relationships with corrupt, incompetent, and malevolent nations like China and Mexico, explains why if there was a Bastille in this country it would have been raided by now.

Amen.

Schoolboys punished with detention for refusing to kneel down and pray to Allah | Mail Online
Topic: Politics and Law 9:58 am EDT, Jul  6, 2008

Two schoolboys were given detention after refusing to kneel down and 'pray to Allah' during a religious education lesson.

Parents were outraged that the two boys from year seven (11 to 12-year-olds) were punished for not wanting to take part in the practical demonstration of how Allah is worshipped.

Simply stupid. This teacher should be fired, along with the Superintendent that allowed this behavior. As far as having a religion class in school, I'm glad we're not British... although with our looming gun control, "terrorist" classifications, government sponsored domestic spying, and losing our rights to free travel, we're quickly getting subjugated by our own politicians.

It's only going to be a matter of time until this happens in a U.S. school system.

Flying without an ID is coming to a controversial end - CNN.com
Topic: Politics and Law 7:32 pm EDT, Jun 23, 2008

Beginning Saturday, June 21, travelers like Kloiber who "willfully refuse" to show IDs won't be allowed through checkpoints or onto planes. Only passengers who show IDs, and "cooperative" passengers, who explain why their IDs are missing and help police confirm their identities, will get through.

....
The right to free travel -- unencumbered by government officials demanding identity documents -- is "something that distinguishes ourselves from others not living in the free world," said Jim Harrison, an attorney who has fought document requirements.

"History will judge," Harrison said. "What's going on here is the TSA is incrementally chipping away at the freedoms that Americans have. And the freedoms that we're talking about are the fundamental right to travel, the freedom to be free of search without reasonable suspicion and your First Amendment freedoms to assemble and associate freely without government interference."

That's not the way TSA chief Hawley sees it. "To us, it's not a philosophical argument," he said. "There are people trying to do harm, take down planes, and we can't let them [exploit] a vulnerability."

This CANNOT be legal!

WASHINGTON--The FBI and multiple members of Congress said on Wednesday that Internet service providers must be legally required to keep records of their users activities for later review by police.

Here we go again... Big Brother comes back again... trying to gain more data on "un-american" activities...

FUCK YOU.

You're done. As far as a lot of Americans and myself are concerned, you will never be worthy of a vote again. You very obviously don't have our best interests in heart, and even more clearly don't give a crap what happens to your fellow man even when it's right in front of you.

This is the wishy-washy bullshit fucktard that I saw when he ran for president the first time... He's always been a sack of shit. And he deserves to be chastised in EVERY WAY for allowing this to occur in front of him.

Mod Your iPhone – For Fun or Profit?
Topic: Politics and Law 8:01 pm EDT, Sep 15, 2007

A little bit about locked phones. When you buy a cell phone (mobile) in the United States and several other countries, you are purchasing a piece of hardware (the phone) and software, and a relationship with a telecommunications provider. Typically, but not universally, the telecommunications provider will heavily subsidize the initial cost of the telephone in order to induce you to remain with or switch to them. After all, your 300 page phone bill can be for hundreds of dollars a month, so it’s natural for them to want you to stay. In fact, to cement this relationship, phone companies do two things. First, they make you sign a long-term (usually two-year) contract with substantial “early termination” of “liquidated damages” fees. For AT&T, this “fee” is at least $175.

This is a very articulate discussion of the "unlocked" iphone and ATT's Cease & Desist Letters...

Bias Suit Depicts EMC as Frat House-esque

Former EMC saleswomen claim they were denied equal pay, forced from accounts and made to visit strip clubs.

Damn, and I missed it!??

No, really, if any of this is true, EMC should be decimated. That's so messed up, it infuriates me that in 2003, a Company of the size of EMC would continue to discriminate.

However, it doesn't surprise me if they're guilty, as the sales staff I knew from EMC were very "frat-boy" like, and overly jocular. Oh, and did I add arrogant? (for those of you who know me, that says quite a bit!)

Leahy: 'Time is up' for White House to produce surveillance opinions - CNN.com
Topic: Politics and Law 9:05 pm EDT, Aug 20, 2007

Will we ever get closure on this issue?

No one is surprised that the NSA is listening to phone calls, but the surprise is that it is occurring on our own soil...

The program was kept secret from all but a handful of lawmakers until its existence was disclosed in 2005. Critics -- including the committee's ranking Republican, Sen. Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania -- say it violates the Watergate-era federal law that requires a federal judge to approve electronic surveillance.

As a former military intel analyst, I'm all about keeping secrets secret, but this strays way too far into the "watergate"'esque area of illegal wiretapping. I'm old enough to remember Nixon leaving office... is it time again?
