Golden Gate Bridge directors voted decisively Friday to try to stop people from jumping to their deaths from the landmark bridge by hanging nets along the sides of the span.

This is totally assinine.

Yeah, cuz we want despondent and desperate people in society!

If I hear one more sound bite about "Main street" and "Wall Street" I think I will literally go insane. Seriously, please, shut the hell up!

I don't live anywhere near the junction of those two streets, so nothing that is said about either really is talking about me... or the 98% of Americans that don't live on either of those streets...

“Dysfunctional” InfoSec worker, seeking balanced employment instead of burnout | dc0de's notes...

Here I am, on the hunt again. I can’t help but think of the poster available on Despair.com, that says, “Dysfunction - The only consistant feature of all of your dissatisfying relationships is you”.

I have been looking for the wrong types of companies to work for. I realize that now. I will no longer work for “start up” or privately funded, emerging technology companies.

Al-Qaeda video shows boys training to kill, kidnap - USATODAY.com
Topic: Miscellaneous 1:26 pm EDT, Sep 11, 2008

A video that shows young boys being trained in kidnapping and assassination was discovered during a raid on an al-Qaeda safe house in Iraq, the U.S. military said Tuesday.

The video shows about 20 boys wearing ski masks and carrying pistols, assault rifles and rocket-propelled grenade launchers. In some cases the weapons appear to dwarf the youngsters carrying them.null

I just ran across this from February of this year. It's kind of freaky to watch the terrorist training of young, impressionable boys. The next generations of Islam-fascists.

It would be nice to know that our next president is going to take care of this generation, should they talk to them, or eradicate them?

RE: Obama to Palin: 'Don't Mock the Constitution' | The Trail | washingtonpost.com

It was in St. Paul last week that Palin drew raucous cheers when she delivered this put-down of Obama: "Al-Qaeda terrorists still plot to inflict catastrophic harm on America and he's worried that someone won't read them their rights."

But Obama, who taught constitutional law at the University of Chicago for more than a decade, said captured suspects deserve to file writs of habeus corpus.

Calling it "the foundation of Anglo-American law," he said the principle "says very simply: If the government grabs you, then you have the right to at least ask, 'Why was I grabbed?' And say, 'Maybe you've got the wrong person.'"

"The reason that you have this principle is not to be soft on terrorism. It's because that's who we are. That's what we're protecting,"

I'm not as upset with Palin's comments as I am about Obama's statement, "I will stand with the Muslims should the winds shift in an ugly direction."

That makes me feel really warm and fuzzy...

Personally, I will stand with my neighbors and friends, armed to the teeth.

Apple in a bind over its DNS patch? | News - Security - CNET News.com
Topic: Miscellaneous 7:17 pm EDT, Jul 29, 2008

Three weeks after the disclosure of a serious flaw within the Domain Name System (DNS), Apple has yet to patch its MAC OS X operating system, but the company may be able to look to a third party in defense.

-snip-
In an e-mail to CNET News, Mogull said "Apple may be stuck between a rock and a hard place on this one, but they've chosen the worst possible option--remaining silent."

Say it isn't so?!!!? Apple has a problem with security? They can't figure out the patch?

Staying silent??? Wow, that's NEW!

Come on Apple, act like a thought leader, not some has-been wanna be, who can't admit that there are flaws in ALL software...

The time for arrogance is over, get with the program.

The current fix, is to forward all DNS requests to a patched system, from a DIFFERENT vendor, such as Microsoft, Linux, or Unix. How long until the corporations realize that Apple doesn't care if they're vulnerable, as long as Apple doesn't admit the vulnerabilities?

No 'Men Working' In Atlanta - News Story - WSB Atlanta
Topic: Politics and Law 3:39 pm EDT, Jul 10, 2008

After complaints from women Atlanta is replacing about 50 "Men Working" signs with "Workers Ahead" signs. Officials said it makes sense since women also work on the road repair crews.

Are we really that petty girls? or should I say women? Geesh, next it'll be "Manhole covers". Let's just be real. We all know that Atlanta drivers ignore those signs anyway, why waste the taxpayer's dollar?

But there’s a reason why this Congress is such a failure–it’s because they don’t care, are obsessed with irrelevant petty squabbling, and apparently have contempt for the American people. If they didn’t, out of simple respect for the people, all Democrat and Republican leadership in the House and the Senate would apologize and resign en masse.

A look at issues ranging from the doubling of gas prices since the Democrats took control, to the fact that Congress seems perfectly willing to sacrifice the health and safety of the American people to trade relationships with corrupt, incompetent, and malevolent nations like China and Mexico, explains why if there was a Bastille in this country it would have been raided by now.

Amen.
