Report: TSA screeners' low morale may hurt airport security - USATODAY.com |

Given their frustration, employees may be distracted and less focused on their security and screening responsibilities," Skinner's report says. Transportation Security Administration chief Kip Hawley ripped Tuesday's report, saying it relies on disgruntled screeners at a few airports. "This results in flawed conclusions," Hawley wrote in a sharp, point-by-point rebuttal.
Kip Hawley is in Denial. He thinks his "department" is authorized to destroy our rights, and now he thinks that everyone is "happy". He's obviously not flown through Atlanta recently. Lastly, Hawley himself called screening a "dead end job" two years ago. Now he thinks that the TSA is a "well oiled machine". A "well-oiled pig" is more like it. D Afifi writes "Two political researchers at the University of Nottingham, in the UK, have been arrested under the Terrorism Act for downloading Al-Qaida material from a US government website. The material was to be used for research in terrorist tactics. There has been a huge public outcry, with university staff planning a march to demonstrate against the attack on academic freedom. Yet, one of the students, an Algerian, is still held in custody under immigration charges and is being fast-tracked for deportation."
Can you say "McCarthyism"? I though you could... Really, the parallels between McCarthyism and the "War on Terrorism" are too blatant to ignore. Why is it that our world leaders don't see this "witch hunt" too? Slashdot | UK Academics Arrested For Researching al-Qaida |

"We're going to leave for the next administration a pretty well-managed organization," said Secretary Michael Chertoff. The Homeland Security boss, meeting with reporters this morning, spelled out several security nightmares that the department has fixed following the 9/11 terrorist attacks that led to its creation five years ago. For example, he said that every ship container box that comes into the United States is checked for radiation. He also said that terrorist financing had been squeezed and that scrutiny of travelers in and out of the country had been tightened. Chertoff said that he had taken a special interest in tracking small aircraft and boats coming to U.S. shores and suggested that such aircraft would be the easiest way for terrorists to deliver a nuclear attack on the United States.
Wow, that and the bullshit TSA "controls", might be just the thing that makes me sleep better at night... Couldn't the same weapon be brought over the Mexican or Canadian border on foot or in a Tunnel? Please... these measures are just another self-fulfilling prophecy to keep the DHS in "power" and spreading more fear to try to control the American People. ...The Chlorine Institute, a trade group that represents more than 200 companies that make and distribute chlorine, recently alerted the FBI to several thefts or attempted thefts of 150-pound chlorine tanks from water treatment plants in California... ...There is no intelligence indicating such an attack is imminent or that terrorists have stolen any chlorine from the nation's chemical or water treatment plants, which use chlorine to purify drinking water...
Err, am I the only one confused by this article? Why isn't anyone looking for Liquid Hydrogen, Liquid Oxygen, and other liquid/gas explosive vehicles as well? one would think that a tanker truck full of LOX would make a very nice smoking hole in the ground. TSA Fails tests 90% of the time at Denver Airport (DEN) |

I think it's time to call for someone's HEAD ON A PLATTER. These issues, (this report and "Brought a gun with me" incidents clearly show that the TSA is NOT keeping us SAFE, but simply costing the American Business Community $millions$ of additional dollars a year due to lost time traveling. It's about time we fire the TSA, and institute something better. Who's up for making airline travel SAFE? (certainly NOT the TSA) Agents Successfully Sneak Weapons Through 90 Percent Of The Time Security screeners at Denver International Airport have some explaining to do. Last month, Transportation Security Administration screeners failed to find simulated weapons and explosive materials carried through by undercover agents roughly nine times out of 10.
Morris' explanation doesn't quite match up with a study by the Department of Homeland Security's Office of Inspector General and the US Government Accountability Office, though, which in 2006 discovered widespread failures very similar to those uncovered by the Red Team at DEN.
Oh, and more TSA stup-foolery... TSA Fails tests 90% of the time at Denver Airport (DEN) |

A uniformed flight attendant was arrested at Dulles International Airport after she turned herself in for allegedly carrying a concealed handgun aboard a flight from Atlanta, authorities said Saturday. The Transportation Security Administration, the FBI and other law enforcement agencies were investigating how the gun passed through security unnoticed in Atlanta, TSA spokesman Barry Phelps said. Flight attendants have to go through the same security procedures as all other passengers, he said.
Yet another reason Kip Hawley is an idiot.
