Bestselling author, political adviser and social and ethical prophet Jeremy Rifkin investigates the evolution of empathy and the profound ways that it has shaped our development and our society.
The gall of some people is simply unbelievable. Someone has put the P != NP problem over on GetACoder.com.
That having been said, the people bidding on this are hilarious. (Oh yes, there's coders lining up to swear they can solve it more cheaply than the last guy.)
Blizzard finally realizes proposed forum change is bad

Those of you who don't play World of Warcraft probably (maybe) didn't hear about this, but earlier in the week Blizzard announced that with the release of Starcraft II and later in the year when the World of Warcraft forums are upgraded for Cataclysm's release, all forum postings would display the poster's real name.
I think it's probably safe to say that over 90% of us who have been using the Internet for five years are more know exactly why that is a really bad idea. I could go on to talk about how that throws privacy out right along with anonymity (baby... bathwater... slow pitch...) and wouldn't even slow down an even slightly dedicated troll, but basically, I'm just glad that...
So, George Lucas is suing a company that makes handheld lasers because they look too much like jedi lightsabers, which they claim to have the copyright on.
This fails to really convey the complete out-of-controlness about this particular model. The video demonstrates what could be considered a more or less average handheld blue laser... and then... well, you just have to see it.
Look directly into it and your children will probably be born blind.
Apple Fails With Both Hands (and possibly four fingers)

So, in the latest bid to hide the fact that they're probably going to need to recall a lot of people's precious iPhone 4Gs, Apple has come out with yet another mind-boggling statement.
Apparently, they've decided to blame the apparently drop in signal when you hold the phone "incorrectly" on software--effectively saying you've been seeing four bars when you should have only been seeing two of them.
What the hell this has to do with why it's dumb to not electrically insulate the antenna, I have no idea--but maybe it'll keep the new iPhone users confused long enough for their warranties to run out.
C.S.'s original goal was to gain access to some of the areas being guarded by BP contractors and deemed "off limits" to reporters, but yesterday he, along with Save Our Shores's Judson Parker, made an unexpected discovery.
They believe that BP has been dumping sand on the beaches in order to cover up oil. You can view some video Judson shot of the beach over here.
I'm just speechless.
Yeah I'm going to get right back on that BP/goatse bumper sticker when I get home tonight. F**k these people.

The same people who brought you these horrible changes — rising wealth discrepancy, massive unemployment and a crumbling infrastructure – have now further institutionalized the policies that will keep the causes of these problems firmly in place.
Its quite another thing entirely to have this sort of stuff said to you by a professional wall street economist.
