God Smites Asians, All At Once, For Not Celebrating Christmas
Topic: Miscellaneous 9:43 am EST, Dec 26, 2004

A freaking *8.9* earthquake hit yesterday, causing honest to gosh tsunami to sweep all along the coast for hundreds of miles, wiping out just about everyone in the way. Sunbathers, scuba divers, fisherman, _entire vacation parks with 200+ bungalows_, you name it, it wound up either in the ocean or back out of the ocean yesterday.

News reports are still working their way around to this side of the planet, but expect CNN to be all over this eventually.

Slickest new CPU load monitor

Warning! If you are a complete and utter feminist, you will not be happy with me for posting this. Stop reading now.

Second warning! If you are not happy with me for posting this, tough noogies.

Last warning! The website contains no nudity (well, it didn't for me) but some folks might consider it un-worksafe anyway.

Basically, this is a hilarious applet that gives you a sleazy reason to keep that compiler churning. The higher your CPU load average is, the more naked the girl becomes. 8D

Evidence of Media Tampering even Idiots can understand
Topic: Miscellaneous 7:59 am EST, Dec  7, 2004

Registration may be required for the website.

The short of it is that it's finally being settled in court that the Wachowski brothers who "made" the Matrix trilogy flat out _stole_ the idea. ...and I don't mean stole as in "heard someone talking about an idea they had and spun it off from there", I mean stole as in "had solicited manuscripts from people with an ad in the paper, told everyone so sorry no deal, and then used one of the manuscripts to make a multi-billion dollar movie trilogy'.

Yes. It's big freaking news. Why does no one know about it? Because AOL/TW is involved with the production of the picture, and it might hurt their bottom line if it was widely known that the plotline and characters were flat out stolen.

On a lighter note, the Matrix Online should prove to be a disaster of monumental proportions.

Topic: Computers 3:01 pm EDT, Jul  6, 2004

For the more sinister among you, I present the New World Order wallpaper collection. A set of eight inspirational messages to help you better perform the way your corporate masters intended.

As a side note, these _are_ loaded into the ReplayTV here. It's actually somewhat amusing to see them looming ominously there on the television screen.
