Those of you who don't play World of Warcraft probably (maybe) didn't hear about this, but earlier in the week Blizzard announced that with the release of Starcraft II and later in the year when the World of Warcraft forums are upgraded for Cataclysm's release, all forum postings would display the poster's real name. I think it's probably safe to say that over 90% of us who have been using the Internet for five years are more know exactly why that is a really bad idea. I could go on to talk about how that throws privacy out right along with anonymity (baby... bathwater... slow pitch...) and wouldn't even slow down an even slightly dedicated troll, but basically, I'm just glad that... ...today, Blizzard rescinded that. Thank god. Blizzard finally realizes proposed forum change is bad |
