] How much is three to four minutes of your time ] worth--especially when you're waiting for the latest ] "Lord of the Rings" movie to start?] ] That question was posed in two lawsuits filed Tuesday ] against movie theaters that claim in their ads they'll ] show movies at a certain time, but, instead, show ] on-screen commercials at the advertised time, delaying ] the movie's start This makes me quite happy. It's about time someone did something about the 20 minutes of commercials. We already paid for the movie!!! Pre-movie ads rip off theatergoers, suits claim |

] San Francisco -- A survey using sophisticated aerial ] photography of Sunday's anti-war march and rally in San ] Francisco has produced results that indicate a far ] smaller crowd than the 200,000 protesters estimated by ] police and event organizers. ] ] The results of the independent survey, commissioned by ] The Chronicle and SFGate.com, cast doubt on traditional ] counting methods and contradict the crowd estimate of ] 200,000, which was reported in this newspaper and news ] media around the world. Crowd size in a demonstration is ] important because organizers tend to use it as evidence ] of support for their cause. Photos put peace marchers at 65,000 |

] The US Air Force is examining the feasibility of a ] nuclear-powered version of an unmanned aircraft. The USAF ] hopes that such a vehicle will be able to "loiter" in the ] air for months without refuelling, striking at will when ] a target comes into its sights. ] ] ] With a nuclear drive a Global Hawk could fly for months ] without landing (Image: GETTY NEWSERVICE)] ] But the idea is bound to raise serious concerns about the ] wisdom of flying radioactive material in a combat ] aircraft. From Boing Boing (http://www.boingboing.net/):
Zed sez: "An Indian-born Canadian citizen was flying home from India to Toronto, and transferring at O'Hare. INS decided her passport was funny-looking, destroyed it, denied her access to the Canadian consul, and deported her to India via Kuwait with her papers in such disorder she might not have been able to get into India if Kuwaiti and Indian authorities hadn't been so co-operative."

quoted: --- Joseph E. Sullivan, Director of Compliance and Law Enforcement Relations, Senior Counsel, Trust and Safety for online auction powerhouse eBay, recently addressed a group of law enforcement officials regarding eBay's policies for cooperating with government investigations. Below are verbatim quotations from his briefing at the recent CyberCrime 2003 conference: We [eBay] try to make rules to make it difficult for people to commit fraud and easy for you [law enforcement agencies] to investigate. One is our Privacy policy. I know from investigating eBay fraud cases that eBay has probably the most generous policy of any internet company when it comes to sharing information. --- LAWMEME - eBay to Law Enforcement - We're Here to Help |
