New Curves in Racism
Topic: Miscellaneous 5:10 pm EST, Nov  2, 2005

The gentleman in this story was raised as white, believing a lie told to him by his mother that he was suffering from a disease that turned him brown.

Geez, I really don't know how to write this without sounding like a racist myself, so I'll just leave it for you to read. But his mother definately needs to continue her therapy, and this guy just needs to be accepted by all.

100Gbit/s Here We Come!
Topic: Miscellaneous 10:50 am EDT, Oct 27, 2005

Stanford does it again, this time finding a way to modulate (shutter) lasers at 100Gbit/s using germanium and silicon.

Give it about five years and we'll have fiber lines running that fast. Current DWDM implementations allow approximately 100Gbit/s per carrier (channels are 200GHz wide, every 20nm from 1300 - 1500 nm).

The Office Of the Inspector General (OIG) released a report indicating that the TSA does not have adequate network protection and security recently.
