UAB student Tamara Henderson recently became victim of CampusCard fraud.
“It’s just as though you dropped a wad of money. Nothing can be done,” an official told the UAB senior.
Henderson dropped her CampusCard at the university’s recreation center and discovered it was missing a few days later. She found out that nearly $75 in purchases had been made to the account at multiple campus locations, including the Commons on the Green, Blazer Cafe, Jazzman’s Cafe and the Rec Center’s juice bar. Henderson immediately deactivated the card but was told the university does not have the capability to apprehend the thief.
Nevertheless, a card identified as not belonging to the person using it will be confiscated by the cashier....
You'd think they would at least learn with the last incident that happened involving Virgil and Acidus... Heck, I might have to take a look at this to see what sort of authenication is going on. What's incredibly stupid about this mess is that a CampusCard is an ID card with a photograph of the owner on the front. Trust but verify, people... sheesh.
