] Bob Parsons: That lawsuit has been dismissed. Since that ] time we've noted that ICANN is making a genuine effort to ] do its job. We do not consider ICANN an evil. We're not ] so sure we can say the same thing about VeriSign. All we ] ever wanted, and all we want now, is for ICANN to do the ] job it was created to do. That job is to make sure that ] the domain name system and the various registries operate ] fair and equitably. With the new administration at ICANN, ] they've been trying to do that job (which of course is ] exactly why VeriSign has filed suit against them). ] ] The internet is for everyone. The purpose of the internet ] is not to deliver huge profits to VeriSign. The internet ] needs to provide an even playing field to everyone. As ] ICANN stands up to VeriSign they can count on Go Daddy's ] zealous support. Go Daddy's Bob Parsons on the whole V$ mess. Questioning Innovation: An Interview with Bob Parsons |

] It's AutoZone. They are asking for "injunctive relief ] against AutoZone's further use or copying of any part of ] SCO's copyrighted materials and also requests damages as ] a result of AutoZone's infringement in an amount to be ] proven at trial." SCO's unfailing instincts have caused ] them to pick yet another Red Hat customer, so maybe this ] case will get added to the evidence piling up on the ] Delaware judge's desk. SCO is supposedly filing suit against another big Linux user later today. Meanwhile, their first quarter loss grew to $2.25M. SCOX was up about $1 yesterday but is right back down today (~$12.08 as of 10:20 EST) U: The other Linux user is DaimlerChrysler. AutoZone is both an IBM and RedHat customer. What the fuck are they thinking?! SCO to sue AutoZone, 1Q loss widens |

Verisign vs. ICANN: More at Stake than Sitefinder |

] It's easy to dismiss Verisign's antitrust suit as a ploy ] to push through Sitefinder. But whether one loves ] Sitefinder or hates Sitefinder, the complaint raises a ] much more significant issue that won't go away even if ] ICANN lets Verisign roll out Sitefinder. At the heart of ] Verisign's complaint is the lack of any definable process ] for decisionmaking, and its a complaint shared by others. ] A settlement between Verisign and ICANN that does not ] create a clear process for decisionmaking at ICANN that ] includes trustworthy independent review will merely delay ] the inevitable. Eventually, some other party will become ] just as frustrated and again challenge ICANN -- either in ] U.S. court or by enlisting the help of the U.S. Commerce ] Department, non-U.S. governements, or multinational ] treaty organizations. ICANN must recognize that the days ] of ad hoc decision making based on realpolitick must end ] and give way to stable processes that ICANN staff cannot ] control. ] ] Will ICANN face it in court? Everything in its body will ] tell it no. VeriSign knows only too well that having the ] ownership and future of the Internet decided in a ] Californian court will aggravate the rest of the world to ] such a degree that during the long legal process, ] everything it has fought for would fall apart. Besides, ] ICANN probably can't afford it. I think the end result of this in 5 or 10 more years is that the ITU is going to get control of this stuff. I don't love them but I think they may be the least evil compared against V$ and ICANN. VeriSign calls ICANN bluff in worlds biggest game of poker |
