Undercover Congressional investigators set up a bogus company and obtained a license from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission in March that would have allowed them to buy the radioactive materials needed for a so-called dirty bomb.

FCC Chairman Kevin Martin wants the winner of the auction for 22 MHz of spectrum to allow the use of any wireless device and application as long as it doesn't interfere with the network, an FCC official has confirmed.

Influential senators from both parties, backed by unions and some large electrical utilities, will unveil a new global warming proposal on Wednesday that could form the basis of a climate change compromise that has so far eluded Congress.

When IBM chief maintenance engineer J�hann Gunnarsson started tinkering with the IBM 1401 Data Processing System, believed to have been the first computer to arrive in his native Iceland in 1964, he noticed an electromagnetic leak from the machine's memory caused a deep, cellolike hum to come from nearby AM radios. It was a production defect but, captivated, amateur musician Gunnarson and his colleagues soon learned how to reprogram the room-size business workhorse's innards to emit melodies that rank amongst the earliest in a long line of Scandinavian digital music.
