"It takes a big man to cry, but it takes a bigger man to laugh at that man." -- Jack Handey

The Michigan Daily - Clamping down on dry humping and blue balls
Topic: Miscellaneous 10:53 pm EST, Feb 14, 2003

] I hate to admit it but, as many times as I have dry
] humped, I still don't know when it is coming. The
] situation is always the same: the lights are out, we're
] kissing, I am on top, starting to get into it and then -
] WHAM. Her legs turn into clamps and we're dry humping.
] There are honestly times when I've thought to myself: "It
] is going to take the Jaws of Life to get out of this."
] And then, before I know it, it's over. Most times, it
] isn't just the dry humping that ends; it is the hookup
] altogether. So I am left lying in bed exhausted,
] frustrated and sore - the latter two I wish to talk about
] in more detail.

For all the single guys.

News: Bush unveils final cybersecurity plan
Topic: Technology 10:27 pm EST, Feb 14, 2003

] The Bush administration signed off Friday on the final
] version of the United States' strategy for protecting the
] Internet and securing information systems.

Well, actually, he signed off on it a couple weeks ago, but he released it today. I haven't read it yet. Apparently all the crazy surveillance stuff that people were going nutzo about last year has been removed. However, this is supposedly a very different document from the September version in other ways. I'll try to find time to take a look at it soon.

] you without the ability to express your emotions, real or
] not. Not to worry.
] As with most things subtle and delicate, we boorish
] Americans needed the assistance the Europeans.
] Ridiculopathy-Dot-Com has partnered with Grußkarte, Inc.,
] a greeting card design and production firm based in Bohn,
] Germany. Together, we have worked for months to create
] the right emotional serrogates to tell that dark lump on
] the couch next to you of your overwhelming angst,
] dispare, and desperation.

The Terrible Mr. G
Topic: Miscellaneous 1:38 pm EST, Feb 14, 2003

What happens when you play Counterstrike too much? You end up with a potty mouth. And some enemies:
So, the story goes that co-worker A got sick of co-worker B's constant profanity whilst playing Counter Strike. Co-worker A then hid a microphone next to co-worker B's desk, and captured this stream of rantings. Then, as co-worker A was a member of an electronic music-making concern, he endeavored to edit it all together. The end result was this: The Terrible Mr. G.

Boxes and Arrows: Visible Narratives: Understanding Visual Organization
Topic: Miscellaneous 1:36 pm EST, Feb 13, 2003

] Art vs. engineering. Aesthetics vs. usability. Usability
] experts are from Mars, graphic designers are from Venus .
] The debate between design (of the visual sort) and design
] (of the technical sort) remains ongoing. A website,
] however, can't take sides: it needs both to be
] successful.

This is for my own reference but feel free to check it out.
