IEBlog : IE JavaScript Performance Recommendations - Part 1 |

While investigating the performance issues on script heavy sites we noticed several design patterns that resulted in less than optimal script performance. Changing these design patterns on the site end often resulted in huge performance wins (4x to 10x increase) to the user, so I wanted to share these recommendations with everyone. To that end, this blog will be the first in a 3 part series focusing on developing performance optimized scripts for web pages, covering the following: 1. Symbolic Look-up recommendations 2. JavaScript code inefficiencies 3. Script and performance considerations specific to IE

Militiamen grabbed six Sunnis as they left Friday worship services, doused them with kerosene and burned them alive as Iraqi soldiers stood by
Things are going so well in Iraq, we can only lose if we... Who is the administration trying to kid? Is the idea that we're the ones who dropped the crate of eggs so we have to be the ones to put them back together? Into something we can stick back under the chickens to hatch? Welcome to impossible, and the only ones left who don't get that are the ones who make the policy. Shiites burn 6 Sunni worshippers alive |

Stock VW Touareg pulls 747! |

London England - Engineers, Volkswagen personnel and bemused passers-by watched open-mouthed as a VW Touareg V10 TDI towed a 155-ton Boeing 747 down the auxiliary runway at Dunsfold airport, 60km south-west of London – not once but seven times.
Granted the Touareg could only pull the 747 at a constant 5 MPH, but still, a stock SUV pulled a 155 ton jet at 5 MPH! As Jon Stewart would say, "And now, your moment of zen." Stock VW Touareg pulls 747! |

Sorry for taking down Memestreams this afternoon. According to Rattle, my pen test sent the load to 80 on the box. There are some vulns in Memestreams. You should look for more and tell Tom (tom@memestreams.net) or Rattle (rattle@memestreams.net). Industrial Memetics should give out shirts to those who find new ones. So far we've found: -Some XSS/XSRF attacks -HTTP response splitting on a few pages -Some directory listings -Some default directories that shouldn't still be there -Some cryptographic issues |

"It's never been a stay-the-course strategy," Bartlett said.
And yet President Bush has said...
And, yet, we must stay the course, because the end result is in our nation's interest. April 2004, [whitehouse.gov] We're not going to lose in Iraq. As a matter of fact, we will win in Iraq so long as we stay the course. July 2006, [whitehouse.gov]
Stay the course also means don't leave before the job is done. And that's -- we're going to get the job done in Iraq. October 2006, [whitehouse.gov]
Barlett, you and the no talent ass clown you work for have no credibility. Sit down and shut the fuck up. Bush adviser: 'stay the course' is not our strategy |

David Dewy over at ISS keeps telling Tom that I should stop all this Web nonsense and "works on some big boy stuff." While I am very happy in Layer 7 right now, I am starting to poke around in the low level stuff. I bumped into Sir Dystic at Tooron and Security Opus last week we reconnected from back in the early days of Interz0ne. We had some all round good times at the Metreon in SF playing Street Fighter 2 and drinking sake out of wooden cubes. He then showed me some fun stuff that reboots, freezes, and exceptions in kern32.dll on a fully patch XP SP2 box. We got to talking, because we are pretty sure this can be done remotely. Not only remotely, but from visiting a webpage! Anyway, this is a starting point to play catch up to Josh's NT knowledge. Sysinternals Freeware - Inside the Native API |
