] Exploiting that information would be trivial. Only a bit ] of statistical data, of the sort that any government ] agency in the world could easily afford to obtain, will ] be needed. ] ] Here's what we need to know: how many chunks of a ] splitfile will appear on a node that only relays file ] requests after x amount of uptime. That's it. We already ] know that for nodes requesting a splitfile, the answer is ] 100% of the chunks in the amount of uptime needed to ] fetch them. By running several nodes and observing them, ] we can easily determine how long it will take to cache, ] by relaying alone, an entire file of x size. ] ] Since Freenet logs uptime, a forensic examiner can easily ] learn how long your node has been alive, even if there ] have been interruptions. So it is quite possible to ] estimate how many intact files, and of what size, your ] node ought to have cached without your participation. If ] the examiner finds many more files, or many larger files, ] than predicted, and they are illegal, you are in trouble. ] ] Using a tool called FUQID, which queues Freenet file ] requests, one could easily run a list of forbidden CHKs ] against a disk image. If the number/size of whole files ] containing naughty stuff is significantly higher than ] predicted by your node's uptime, you are in trouble. Attack against Freenet |

Dear Eric, Here is how I read your email: Dear Acidus, I am a thief specializing in stealing people's identities... ... I mean... ... a "doctor" who is doing "research." Please tell me where I can get illegal information and stolen account numbers. Also, please ignore the fact that, while I am a "doctor," my command of the English language is on par with a 11 year old Pakistani orphan. I sincerely hope to make you an accessory to my multiple felony convictions soon. Regards, A flaming piece of shit. |

McNamara: Bush's nuclear policy... BAD! |

] The destructive power of nuclear weapons is well known, ] but given the United States%u2019 continued reliance on ] them, it%u2019s worth remembering the danger they ] present. A 2000 report by the International Physicians ] for the Prevention of Nuclear War describes the likely ] effects of a single 1 megaton weapon%u2014dozens of which ] are contained in the Russian and U.S. inventories. At ] ground zero, the explosion creates a crater 300 feet deep ] and 1,200 feet in diameter. Within one second, the ] atmosphere itself ignites into a fireball more than a ] half-mile in diameter. The surface of the fireball ] radiates nearly three times the light and heat of a ] comparable area of the surface of the sun, extinguishing ] in seconds all life below and radiating outward at the ] speed of light, causing instantaneous severe burns to ] people within one to three miles. A blast wave of ] compressed air reaches a distance of three miles in about ] 12 seconds, flattening factories and commercial ] buildings. Debris carried by winds of 250 mph inflicts ] lethal injuries throughout the area. At least 50 percent ] of people in the area die immediately, prior to any ] injuries from radiation or the developing firestorm. A extremely criticqal analysis of current US Nuclear weapon's policy, especially critical of Bush's plan to *increase* our theatre and tactical nuclear weapons. And before you go a dismiss this as some liberal bed wetting NYT article, it was written by SecDef during the Cubian Mission Crisis, Robert S McNamara. McNamara: Bush's nuclear policy... BAD! |
