Windows Mobile Devices also saw a share decline from 13 percent to 11 percent, while Blackberry’s RIM OS gained a point to 22 percent, and the iPhone stayed the same at 50 percent.
This story is about Android against the iPhone. But thats not what's interesting. What blows me away is how Apple has come in and literally kicked the shit out of Microsoft and RIM! 50% penetration into an existing entrenched market in less than 2 years? Amazing! I'm not sure how much of that speaks to the merits of the iPhone, Apple's marketing, or of how poorly the market was being served by existing players. I would love to see a break down along "consumer" smart phone purchases and "business" to see how RIM is still doing in the land-o-corporate-Blackberry.
