Bush's Approval Ratings Climb in Days After Hussein's Capture
by bucy at 2:08 pm EST, Dec 17, 2003

] The capture of Saddam Hussein has lifted Americans' view
] of the state of the nation and their opinion of President
] Bush, while at least momentarily halting what had been a
] spiral of concern about the nation's economic and foreign
] policy, according to the latest New York Times/CBS News
] Poll.

Sigh.

this won't last forever. as soldiers continue to die at the same pace as they have for months, and we continue to not find any WMDs or bio labs or other credible threat sources, i think people will get back to realizing that we're still fucked in a lot of ways.

Seriously though, if Bush suddenly pulls a WMD discovery out of his ass in, say, mid summer, he's a shoo in for reelection. The dems are going to be committed to an anti-war candidate by then (sorry Lieberman) so any validation of the Iraqi threat is going to let Bush just annihilate the opposition. Here's to hoping that he's not sitting on that announcement, as he's been accused of doing with Saddam.
