I went to Phreaknic and I was amazed... Did I act this way when I was pubescent? yea.. kinda, but it seemed like it was toned down quite a bit. I didn't get a chance to include myself in the lectures but I heard they were very good. I should have went for those, but instead I saw a darker side of Phreaknic. I think during the 2 1/2 days the event went on, I was there for a total time of 2.5 hours. Browsing the halls of the 8th and 9th floors and my eyes were soaking in infomation that I would have rather not seen.

I ask myself this question: Have I grown up? or have I merely extended myself. Have I, as an old hacker, straightened my ways and look for more practicality in everything. I look at myself in 1983 and I look at myself today.... 20 year gap and I think to myself. Jeez, I was a raging asshole... wait a minute... I still am. That hasn't changed. But to look at me then and look at me now is very interesting. Attending PhreakNic 7 was just another wake-up call for me in life, not as harsh as having 2 Government agents watching my house 24/7 for 2 weeks in 1985, but a wake-up call indeed.

I'm glad I am who I am. I'm not saying that Phreaknic 7 was bad, or judging Phreaknic as a whole. Just the things I saw varied my opinion and I just wanted to share this with everyone. Going to Phreaknic really put me in my place and made me realize that I am an Old Fart just spouting off about "The Good Ole Days"... so never mind this transmission.. :)
