Sad but true, most lab animals are already not very bright. All the smart ones ran away (this is not a joke, although it is funny) so for years, things like lab mice have basically had stupidity bred into them to the point where now, when your working with lab mice, and you need to clean their cages, you can just basically lift them out and put them on the table next to you while you clean....they don't run away...its very darwinian.
