From the rules: Balloons will be in readily accessible locations, visible from nearby roadways and accompanied by DARPA representatives.
Spoofers will have to be willing to commit fraud by impersonating a government official. Surely these individuals would be photographed by every participating team. They would have to accompany their false balloon during the entire period of the contest. Such attacks could be deterred by enabling the on-site representative to produce a valid digital signature using an official key/certificate. But maybe such questions of truth are all part of the challenge. RE: DARPA Network Challenge |
