I met Knuth at Stanford one night. He was there late and after partying with Mike Dalton we stopped by the CS building to pick up some papers Mike left and ran into Knuth leaving. This was like 1am on a Friday night and Knuth was still rocking it in the office. He started to talk to us because he thought he was the tallest person in the CS department but no... he was wrong.

I am 6'7 so Knuth was impressed that I was a few inches taller then him.

I was impressed that he was Donald FUCKING Knuth!

I have run in to cops when drunk but I have never become instantly sober as fast as when meeting Donald Knuth.
