Twitpay - Easy promotions on Twitter by Decius at 10:17 am EDT, Jul 14, 2009 |
Twitpay has been busy. Let's say you are a coffee company looking for a way to promote your newest seasonal drink, the Pumpkin Latte. In order to get people talking about your product on Twitter, you could use RT2Get to start a retweet campaign: The first 1000 people to retweet this message get one free pumpkin latte RT2Get 23212
This could be a pretty powerful way to harness the viral nature of twitter. |

I'm starting to become disillusioned with monetizing friendships. It's cool tech though. |

You're already monetizing friendships. What do you think social networking IS? You have a desire to keep in touch with your friends, family, and stalk that cute girl from high school that you never got with. Venture Capitalists have a desire to create giant returns for their institutional investors during a massive financial meltdown. Voila! We extract billions of dollars of value from your social needs. Instead of write once, sell infinitely (the software business model). It's let someone else write for free and sell infinitely. |

I dunno, it's ok when folks are giving away free stuff. I'll retweet that. The thing I hate is being asked to retweet for a contest. Hell like I want all that competition and half or more of my friends don't LIKE contests. There's legislation coming down the pipes that aims to make sure people have to ADMIT they got something if they hawk it on a blog or whatever. People can't TALK on twitter really. I don't think it is a great place to really introduce most household products. |

This is why they will succeed. They'll just keep doing this, every month or two, until they hit the jackpot iteration. |

Frankly, I'm having a hard time seeing this as any much better than the usual "piss in the eyes of your friends for money" plan. |
