I saw this today on Slashdot and was a bit coincidental since I've had to replace two fuel pumps on vehicles in the last 12 months when I've NEVER had to replace a fuel pump in the past 20 years of driving and owning lots of various vehicles.

I've been experimenting with brewing my own biodiesel from rendered cooking oil and there are issues with it, particularly with gaskets and seals. There could be some truth to this. When I get some free time, I'm going to look for ways to test for the volume of ethanol in fuel.
