I second the recommendation of "The Fourth Dimension" ... I actually picked it up off of my bookshelf this weekend and did some reading in it. Enjoyable stuff. It's written in accessible language and is very effective at leading you to think of common things in new ways.

Rucker's "Infinity and the Mind" is also a great read, if slightly more detailed and academic than "The Fourth Dimension."

I also recommend reading Edwin Abbott's "Flatland" directly. (This book is referenced in some detail in "The Fourth Dimension.")
