Of course there are better ways, but that's not what those in government want. They want control over us, not what's best for us. All we have to do is bring an end to socialism in the U.S.A., and we'll have plenty of money for infrastructure and other legitimate government functions. But then, the government would lose power over the people, which is why that option is unlikely to happen... unless the people wake up and go Rick Santelli (bless him!) on the government, which is about ninety-six years overdue.
While the economic aspects of such an insidious tax system do bother me a great deal, I'm more concerned about the government finding more excuses to spy on citizens, once again. Regardless of which party is in power, government is determined to incrementally invade our privacy and violate our freedoms, until we have neither. It's all about control, and sadly, too many Americans are willing to turn over control of their lives to government, bit by bit.
We really need term limits for legislators at every level of government.
