I simply look at the weather... it's colder this winter... not warmer.

I hope you don't seriously believe that the subject is that simple! In fact, one of the worst case scenarios associated with global warming would cause significant temperature drops across western europe. The reality is complicated.

Yeah, it's complex... but it's not "Global Warming"... If it's "Global Warming" it means it get's WARMER... not colder. And it would have to get WARMER all over the globe... not just in a few places...

The problem we have is that we really only understand about 1/10th of 1% of how the planet regulates temperature. The planet doesn't have a care about sustaining life as we know it, and yes, we could be wiped from existence if we screw up.

Big deal.

If we're not supposed to be here, we'll die. Survival of the fittest. Period.

If we make this world unlivable... GREAT! we won't live here.

However, running around like headless chickens, or Al Gore, doesn't help the situation. It simply means that there are more people yelling. (Oh, and Al Gore has a much larger carbon footprint than my entire family will EVER have... as I don't fly a private jet around the world.)

So, you see, the climate changes... yes... it happens ALL THE TIME...

Are we on the verge of a great disaster?
No.

Have people migrated to this as the next big apocalypse?
Sure, the cold war ended, and nuclear proliferation treatise's were signed all around... so the Nuclear Holocaust that was predicted (which can still happen), was pushed from the forefront of the fearmonger's minds... So, now we have the "Next Big Fear" [cue dramatic intro music from the nightly news] -- duhn, dun, dun, "Global Climate Change, what you and your family need to know!!!"

Am I going to sit around and worry if the tissue I wipe my nose with makes it to a recycling center? No.

Am I going to agree to pay MORE taxes so that the Government can setup a new way to tax me further to "Reduce" my carbon footprint?
No.

Should we or any other country sign the Kyoto treaty?
Never. We don't KNOW enough to ensure that ANY of the monies are going to make any significant impact. IF, (and it's a big IF), the "scientists" that have run climatology scenarios through their computers tell us that if we don't do the Kyoto Treaty that we're going to be wiped off the planet in 2050, then what I want to know is, "If we do sign the treaty, and spend the quadrillion plus dollars to put it into effect, how much longer will we have?"

I'm betting 2051... You see, if the planet is going to correct itself, [which I truly believe it will, as it has done in the past, and will do again in the future,] we don't have ANY choice if the planet decides to make itself uninhabitable for human or any other life. The entire "Survival of the fittest" is about adaptation. If we as humans don't adapt to high CO2 levels, or learn how to swim faster than the sharks, well... you get the picture.

As for me... I'm just going to worry about the Atlanta Drivers... it's scary enough trying to get home.
