To be honest, it reminds me a lot of Kula Shaker - a band that actually had a hit back in the late 90s. It's more Beatles influenced than Tangerine Dream, so definitely a big change for FSOL. I don't know if this is their first album with vocals, but it's the first I've heard with any substantial amount from them. As far as whether or not it's actually good depends on how diverse your musical tastes are. If world music annoys you then the influence of it on this album will annoy you. You can't dance to it.
