If the situation continues for any time it will lead to political instability in Saudi Arabia.

Those who argue for American self–sufficiency, that we can somehow produce the energy we need here in the U.S., don’t understand the nature of the oil market.

In my judgment, we have about 30 years left of a sustainable crude oil based economy.

We've had 30 years left of affordable oil for the last 50 years. Predictions are fickle...what's important is the inevitability of Peak Oil. That, in addition to the boom to sustainable design, is one of the benefits of $4/gallon oil. But if it stays at $2.50? People (and policymakers) will forget and continue to let renewable tax credits expire, build exurbs to nowhere, leave lights on at night, endlessly water their lawns, etc.
