I disagree with that part, in that I think Obama and Clinton would've still had a lot of traction within the Democratic Party, even if Bush had been a very effective and popular President. I think we've already reached the point when sex/gender and skin color/ancestry no longer matter, as long as your political views appeal to voters. I agree with that part! Both parties have offered us lousy choices, but I'd say things have been bad (in one way or another) for the past twenty years, not just the past eight. As for the past eight, I don't know which amazes me more... the fact that Bush was the best the Republicans could come up with, or that the Democrats failed to find anyone to beat him... twice. Oh well, that's the two-party culture for you. RE: The election is basically over. |
