Anthrax scientist commits suicide as FBI closes in - washingtonpost.com by Shannon at 9:16 pm EDT, Aug 2, 2008 |
WASHINGTON -- A top U.S. biodefense researcher apparently committed suicide just as the Justice Department was about to file criminal charges against him in the anthrax mailings that traumatized the nation in the weeks following the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, according to a published report.
I was wondering whatever happened with this. |

Keep wondering. All of the follow up I've seen to this is in complete contradiction to the FBI comments. Specifically things like, over 100 people had access to the supposed vial, the contents of said vial were in liquid form, not weaponized, and the equipment the FBI cites as how it was changed from liquid to said weaponized powder were not capable of doing so (see here for a good summation). As another point, let's say for example all of it IS true, how the hell did someone so unbalanced get the security clearances this guy had? This story stinks like bad fish. |
