Must Watch: Oliver Stone's W. Teaser Trailer FirstShowing.net by Shannon at 1:39 pm EDT, Jul 28, 2008 |
Are you ready for this? George W. Bush that drinks and gambles? The first teaser trailer for Oliver Stone's W. biopic has just hit and it's not that bad! I'm not sure it will be any good either, but I'm going to leave that judgment up to you. I'm amazed to see that they're showing him in such a revealing light throughout all of this trailer. He looks like a troublemaker and the trailer poses an interesting question - how did he get into the White House?! W. tells the life story of our 43rd President, George W. Bush, and his rise to power and prominence. As everyone already knows, this is a very highly anticipated movie and I hope this teaser lives up to all of the early expectations. Thoughts?
It's hard not to imagine this being hugely entertaining. |

That's exactly what I thought before watching Stone's Alexander Revisited. |

I think he is portrayed just how he would want to be portrayed (in the trailer). He wasn't a 'good ole cowboy from Crawford, Tx'. The dude went to Yale and was a male cheerleader. He has been coddled his whole life. I really hope this movie doesn't make him out to be a renegade cowboy who played by his own rules. It seems like that would please that asshole more than anything. Thoughts? |

You might be onto something. Based on the trailer alone, Bush does come across as a Hell-raisin' man's man, who works hard and plays hard... sometimes too hard. Not knowing him personally, I can't speak with any accuracy of course, but I do get the impression that's he'd prefer that image and legacy over the ways in which he's described by others. As Shannon mentioned, it should be an entertaining film, one way or another. |

If it were strictly a comedy, maybe. But coming from oliver stone, and essentially asking the American people, "what were you thinking?" It's probably going to be a bit insulting. Since most of America will probably not delve further into history beyond a movie, this is how most people will remember him. |

Of course it'll be insulting; it's a Stone movie about Bush. lol Still, Bush himself might take it as compliment on some level (the Cowboy element Lamp mentioned), if the trailer is any indication. One could argue the same about Clinton being proud of his sexual escapades. |
