Could fear of terror muzzle science?

I still don't understand why we just don't stop pissing everyone else off. That might be a good first start to reducing terrorism. Duh.

I recommend that if you've never done so, go read "The Cobweb" (out of print but probably at your library) by Neal Stephenson's name de plume, Stephen Bury. It was written back in '97 and details just what the administration is talking about - middle eastern grad students developing Anthrax not in some bunker in Iraq, but on the campuses of American universities. I like to think that it's complete fiction, but sometimes you have to wonder...
