Wow. I just learned about Still last weekend, and I haven't listened to the remixes of Year Zero, and now they make 36 new tracks available for 5 bucks! Looks like I've got a lot of listening to do!

It's really good. I was jamming the FLACs today on my headphones at work, made it through 20 of 36, #19 being my favorite thus far. I dig this concept. Trent is doing it right 100%.

I ordered the Deluxe set to support the cause and get the nice art, vinyl, blu-ray, the prints, and the WAV source files of the multitrack session. Really not a bad deal, it's limited to 2500 copies too so it will at least retain its value if not go up.

There are the 9 freebies as Ogg Vorbis, transcoded from the FLACs and including the artwork.

Jesus... Trent Reznor FTW!

Looks like the "Ultra-Deluxe Limited Edition" packages have already been bought up. So, that's three-quarters of a million dollars in two days flat. Granted, it's surely not all profit, but this has really got to sting those greedy AU label reps who when asked why the @#$@ Reznor's CDs were being sold for $35 last year so glibly told him "because we've found that the real fans will pay whatever we ask". There's no need to just screw everyone when you can more easily make a real collector's edition out of something. (All things considered, I think that's a decent price for what it is.)

I can't wait to see how much the $5 cost of the whole album nets. Reznor has the online music sales thing right. You can buy just the music for cheap, and if you want the CD you can have that and instead of waiting for it to arrive in the mail once you've placed your order you can immediately go download the tunes, too.

Trent is following through on his threats. I couldn't be happier.
