As much as I hate TIA, it is not "an integral part of the new Homeland Security legislation" nor will it "begin mining for data soon." It is a DOD project that has very little to do with the Homeland Security Department and its a trial which does not involve real data. The legislators you've written have told you that there was no congressional authorization for TIA.

We have enough real problems without being dishonest about it. (John Barlow recently posted an EFF fund raising announcement in which he sites as a serious threat the network DNA proposal which didn't even make it out of a conference at which it was discussed. Come on people! We don't need to be creative here. The real world is nasty enough as is.)
