Come on. We all know that it is illegal and always has been to even joke about killing the president, just as it is to do the same concerning an airplane. This would have happened regardless of who was in office.

So he's a crackpot. So what. He was convicted based upon witnesses retelling what they heard him say at a bar at 2am. C'mon. That's bullshit. The fact that he's been arrested before for similar statements makes me feel like yes, it was profiling. Without the actual transcripts (I looked on WestLaw and you have to pay for them), we'll never know what the 'witnesses' say they heard. But given the amount of paranoia around, it wouldn't surprise me if it was pretty benign kook-speak.

The second part of that article is just as offensive.
