Another big problem with the PS3 is the lack of games. And that comes from the difficulty of developing the games. It's such a smart, but complex system that gaming companies are having to put a lot more effort into writing the games for that console.

Agreed. Right now, it's mainly about the games. That's what allowed the PS2 to dominate the market, and that's the main reason the Wii and Xbox 360 are beating the PS3 right now (although the Wii has a special appeal). I'm not suggesting that console price is a non-factor, but gamers will pay for a high-end system if there are several games that are actually fun to play.

Assassin's Creed appears to be the only PS3 title getting major buzz right now. The PS3 has Gran Turismo 5 on the way, but that won't be released until February 19, 2008. Resident Evil 5 and Silent Hill 5 won't be out until later in 2008, but they'll also be available on the Xbox 360. I've downloaded game demos & previews of Gran Turismo HD and Metal Gear Solid 4, and they both look great.

True, some developers are whining about the PS3's Cell architecture, but other developers don't seem to have a problem. I think it's just a matter of time until the majority of them learn how to get the most out of the system. The frame rate in Madden 2008 (30fps vs. 60fps for Xbox 360) is a perfect example. I have that game, and it still looks good, but it does seem a bit rushed (also, too many fumbles - wish I could turn those off). Maybe they'll fix things for Madden 2009.
