Maybe you're thinking of hummus. :) I know there is a patent on "knockout" mice. Speaking of Rifkin, he has recently (~September) published a new book entitled _The Hydrogen Economy_. The top Amazon reviewers complain that he mistakes hydrogen as an energy source, when (at least on Earth) it is really more of an energy storage device.
