*old news* I learned how to proof in newspaper class in high school.. I guess they did not... Guess no one really proofs anything... haha
Below is an official letter from Party City regarding this issue: Thank you for bringing the story from the News 5 website archives to our attention. Please know that our employees and the company responsible for printing and creating our advertisements are deeply saddened and regret the alarm that this incident has caused you. We are especially troubled that this two-year old news story has appeared again. This situation, which occurred in December of 2003, involved a lone former employee of ADVO, the independent company that designs and distributes promotional materials on behalf of Party City. The responsible ADVO employee secretly inserted an inflammatory message into a small number of promotional flyers that were distributed in the Dallas and Houston areas. Party City and ADVO took all possible steps to recall and destroy the offending flyer. The companies also put measures in place that prevent this kind of act from happening again. And, we issued public apologies to further underscore our commitment to this. Party City also worked closely with ADVO and the local office of the Anti-Defamation League to address all community concerns and take the proper corrective actions. Those actions included the immediate termination of the responsible employee, a thorough investigation of ADVO’s process breakdowns, and the implementation of quality controls and preventative measures that would ensure against such future incidents. Let me restate that Party City found this act unacceptable and worked to immediately develop the appropriate community response. We are community-based business that respects diversity and cultural differences. I hope that this response has satisfied your concerns. Please feel free to contact me at 212-251-1204 if you have any additional questions. Sincerely, Judy Klein On behalf of Party City |
