silly article but the intriguing point raised is the possibility (and i stress possibility), a subject a friend of mine wrote his masters thesis on about 3 years ago, that this is one of the first signs that the euro will replace the dollar as the global reserve currency
If OPEC started pricing oil in Euros that would do it. Interested in reading your friend's thesis, is it available?
Been watching the dollar free fall for some time now, wondering just how many dollars are actually out there. Not having M3 stats makes it a little tougher, but the Fed has pumped, what, close to $100 billion in just the last few months alone?
i'm not sure if the thesis is avaivable - i worked with nimesh a few years ago and he now works in the City of London i believe - i haven't spoken to him in a long time but i recently joined facebook and because i had his email address i invited him as a friend on that and he accepted - he's a nice guy - so i'll contact him and ask
