Beer beer magical beer

Brewing update:

Today, Clint and I are brewing pumpkin brew. This is by far my favorite brew we do all year round, mainly because of the aroma of roasted pumpkin. Last time we brewed this, it was an absolute hit (as in, the keg was empty a few hours after we kegged...I didn't even get any...damn house parties), so I am looking forward to trying this.

In secondary : Paulaner Hefe clone and a high gravity belgian beer....oh yes.....winter is going to be good.

Do be sure to post how it goes, and a recipe with gravities if it turns out good. Though I have played with all kinds of different ingredients, I have yet to do pumpkin.

For non-home brews (and I have a friend down in Austin TX who makes some really mean ones) my current recommendations are Guinness (can't go wrong with Guinness, it's even got iron!) Leinenkugel's Sunset Wheat (a wheat with a bit of a blueberry flavor) but the current cream of the crop is Belhaven, a really incredible Scottish Ale, and equally incredibly hard to find.

Ha! What a coincidence! I stopped by All Seasons on the way home yesterday to pick up another English Brown Ale ingredient kit so that I could brew a pumpkin ale this weekend in time for PhreakNIC.

Woah, woah, woah there...

SHOWDOWN TIME!

Nanochick vs. Dolemite.. Who can do the best pumpkin brew?

We must convene a panel of judges at PhreakNIC and have a contest! Of course, I volunteer..

I actually, as i'm sure you know, just recommended the post however

i don't make beer at home but love real ale and for the last 4 years have been to Leatherbritches Bentley Brook Inn for their annual Beer Festival. For a Picture of the beer tent May 2006 click here not a good year this year but last year there were 200+ beers on offer. Our collective favourite last May went by the terrible name of Bumblehole which inevitable was called bumhole all weekend(if that doesn't translate into American bumhole means asshole) -- available from here it was popular enough with us that my mate Clive got a couple of barrels in for his 40th Birthday party
